Blue River Laundry

When the Big Guys Stopped Caring, We Started Blue River

Returning to a time when customer service and quality products were the norm — not the exception.

Our Story

Blue River Laundry was built on a simple belief: customer service and excellent products should be the standard — not the exception.

For years, healthcare facilities and hospitality businesses across Central New York and the Southern Tier watched as the linen companies they depended on were bought up, consolidated, and hollowed out. Service got slower. Quality slipped. Phone calls went unanswered. The people making decisions were hundreds of miles away, and the facilities left holding the bag had nowhere else to turn.

Our founder saw this happening firsthand. With over a decade of hands-on commercial laundry experience, he knew what good service looked like — and he knew the region had lost it. So in 2024, he did something about it. He acquired a plant in Endicott, New York with a long history as a commercial laundry, gutted the old equipment, and invested in an entirely new operation from the ground up: brand-new Girbau commercial washers, dryers, and finishing equipment built for the demands of healthcare and hospitality.

Blue River Laundry exists because facilities deserve better. A laundry partner who picks up the phone. Who delivers on time, every time. Who charges a fair price and stands behind the work. We're not a national chain optimizing for shareholders — we're a local company built to serve the people who count on us every single day.

That's not a tagline. That's how we run the business.

The Problem We Solve

Across the healthcare and hospitality industries, linen service has become an afterthought. National providers cycle through account reps, lock clients into rigid contracts, and let quality slide because there's no one nearby to hold them accountable. Nursing home administrators wait days for a callback. Hotel managers receive stained linens and are told to deal with it.

We started Blue River because we believe the facilities that care for our communities deserve a partner that cares just as much. When you call us, a real person answers. When there's a problem, we fix it — usually before the next delivery. That's not revolutionary. It's just how business should work.

What Sets Us Apart

Four commitments that every client can count on.

Locally Owned & Operated

Not a national chain. Decisions made here, not in a corporate office 1,000 miles away.

Transparent Pricing

Fair, per-piece pricing. No hidden fees, no surprise surcharges, no bait-and-switch.

Brand-New Equipment

State-of-the-art Girbau commercial laundry equipment. Cleaner results, fewer quality issues.

Next-Day Turnaround

Need it fast? We deliver. Next-day turnaround on all linen orders.

Our Facility

Our plant in Endicott, New York sits in a building with a long history as a commercial laundry. When we acquired the property, we made a deliberate choice: replace everything and start fresh.

Every machine in our facility is brand new — state-of-the-art Girbau commercial washers, dryers, and finishing equipment built for the demands of healthcare and hospitality. The investment means fewer mechanical issues, better wash quality, and the capacity to scale as our client base grows.

We didn't cut corners on the equipment because we don't cut corners on the service.

What Our Clients Say

Blue River has been great. We've utilized some national providers in the past and ended up leaving dissatisfied. Since coming over to Blue River, the quality of product has been phenomenal and their customer service even better. Whenever I need anything a simple email or call and it's addressed immediately. If you're frustrated with your current provider I highly recommend making the switch to Blue River.

Commitment to Quality

Every load processed at Blue River follows documented wash procedures with automated chemical dosing, temperature monitoring, and strict clean/soil separation throughout our facility. We maintain complete separation between incoming soiled linen and outgoing clean product to prevent cross-contamination.

We are committed to meeting the highest industry standards for hygiene and safety. HLAC accreditation is in progress with a target of Q1 2027, on the same roadmap that will take Blue River from serving nursing homes, assisted living, and surgery centers today to serving hospital systems across the region.

Leadership

Blue River is run by the people you'll talk to — not a call center halfway across the country.

Jonathan Safer

Jonathan founded Blue River Laundry in 2024 after more than a decade running commercial laundry operations across the region. He acquired the Endicott plant, replaced every machine with brand-new Girbau equipment, and built the operation around a single principle: customers deserve a partner who picks up the phone and shows up on time.

Mike Micalizzi

Mike has worked in the healthcare industry since 2005, building deep relationships with administrators, DONs, and EVS directors across nursing homes, assisted living, and surgical centers. He understands what healthcare facilities actually need from a linen partner — and what national chains routinely miss.
